These Terms and Conditions apply to all participants and applicants of programs offered by CareerDean. By submitting your application, you are entering into this Agreement.

Definitions Within this Agreement:

“Candidate”, “you” or “your”means the participant.

“we”, “us” or “our” means CareerDean.

“Host Company” or “Provider” means the organization that you’re potentially going to work for or that you’re currently working for while abroad

Agreement means the contractually binding agreement made between CareerDean and the applicant.

Commencement Date means the start date of the program that CareerDean and the participant agreed upon.

Deposit means the part of the Program Fee that must be paid by you in order to secure your placement of the program

Participant is the individual that applies and accepts the program

Placement Deadline means the date 21 days prior to the Commencement Date.

Program means any course, internship, and teaching positions offered by CareerDean

Preference Area means your first and second choice of career field, as established in the Phone/Skype interview in our admissions process.

Program Fee means the sum of the Deposit and the remaining balance, payable by you to CareerDean

Our Undertakings

In return for receipt of the program fee, we will undertake the following:

 

(a) To provide you with an internship and/or job opportunity in your preference area

(b) To assist you on housing

(c) To provide you with a transfer from the airport to your housing on your arrival

(d) To provide contact details of local staff in case of an emergency or if any difficulties arises

(e) To provide and induction and welcome talk upon your arrival

(f)  To provide you with Visa assistance

(g) To provide you with information and tools to enhance your career development

(h) To organize social events for yourself and other participants at your destination

Suitability of Candidates

We retain all rights to deem any candidates for our program unsuitable at our own discretion, and may reject any subject’s application thereafter.

Deposit and Program Fee

(a) All deposits are non-refundable unless the candidate is not provided an internship position, continuation of the program has been declined by CareerDean without the participant’s consent, or a refund is given at CareerDean’s discretion.

(b) Upon fulfilling your initial deposit, you agree to fully cooperate with CareerDean through the duration of attempting to find you a placement and agree to do so until the placement deadline has passed. Non-cooperation includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Lack of active communication with your assigned representatives from CareerDean
  2. Absence from scheduled internship interviews
  3. Not participating in internship discussions with your Internship coordinator
  4. Not responding to CareerDean’s communications in a timely manner
  5. Allowing the placement process to be delayed due to missing agreed payment due dates.
  6. Refusing internships offered to you without proper reasoning.
  7. Dishonesty. This includes fabrication, alteration, or misrepresentation of academic transcripts, test scores, academic standing, statements made on visa applications, or any written or oral statements an applicant makes during the application process for the Program, for a visa, or for any internship role.
  8. Participants who are deemed uncooperative will be notified by CareerDean, and may be released from the program, and may result in forfeiture of the participants prior deposits. Such Participants may have the option, at the discretion of CareerDean, to rejoin the Program, provided that their cooperation is assured in good faith.

 

(c) You must pay 50% of your program fee after 30 days of receiving your deposit.

 

(d) If CareerDean is unable to place you in a role in your preferred area before the placement deadline, you will be given two options:

  1. To withdraw from the program and receive a full refund, which is defined as a refund of your Initial deposit and all other program payments that were made.
  2. To request that CareerDean continues the placement process until one is found. (in the event that CareerDean is still unable to place you in an agreed upon extended amount of time, you will receive a full refund).

 

(e) You are responsible for the third party charges made by financial institutions, such as paypal, banks, foreign transaction fees, and wire transfer fees.

 

Request to Cancel, Vary Participation on the Program, and Refunds

(a) You have every right to withdraw from our program at any time. However, for the avoidance of doubt, request of withdrawal must be made in writing via email.

(b) The deposit, and all successive program fees paid, are not refundable if withdrawal from the program occurs for any reason other than CareerDean’s failure to place you by the placement deadline, or extended placement deadline if applicable, in your preference area. This includes withdrawal for medical, personal, family, academic, financial, and all other reasons. The Deposit, and all successive program fees paid, are refundable ONLY if CareerDean fails to place you in a role, in your preference area, by the placement deadline (and extended placement deadline if applicable), as defined in this document.

(c) Full co-operation is mandatory during the placement process. If CareerDean determines that the participant failed to fully co-operate during the placement process, and as a result a placement was unable to made before the placement deadline, then the deposit and program fees paid are not refundable (If a participant has failed to fully co-operate to CareerDean’s standards, no offer of an extended placement deadline will be made).


(d) If you withdraw from the program for any previously stated reasons after being placed in an internship role, CareerDean will be entitled to 100% of your initial deposit and either 100% of the successive payment(s) you made after the deposit or 50% of the program fee, this is determined by whichever is greater in value. If the withdrawal takes place less than 21 days before the commencement date, CareerDean will be entitled to 100% of your Initial Deposit and 100% of the program fee.

(e) We reserve the right to bill you an additional fee if you want to change the start or end date of your participation in the program after being placed with a host company. If such a request is made within 21 days of the commencement date or after an invitation letter has been issued, we reserve the right to refuse the change request or to apply any additional charges, which is determined at CareerDean’s sole discretion.

(f) No refund will be given if you decide to discontinue your placement in the program after it started

(g) If we have to cancel your participation in the program, prior to your commencement date, a full refund of the program fee (for the avoidance of doubt this includes the deposit) will be given to you. A full refund will be issued only if the cancellation occurs to due circumstances that for no reason can be attributable to you. No compensation can be given for any other costs incurred in relation to the program.

(h) In the event that you are refused an appropriate visa or suitable alternative by the local authorities, a full refund of the program fee and the deposit will be paid if; (1) all and any visa forms were completed correctly, and (2) completion of the required visa process was done correctly and on time. No compensation can be given for cancellation of flights or any other costs incurred by you, the participant. No refund of deposit and/or program fee will be offered if your tardiness in completing the necessary visa requirements leads to start dates being delayed and/or your internship being cancelled.

(i) We do not withhold any processing fees or service charges from refunds. However, the refund amount you receive may be less than the total amount of the initial deposit and/or program fee, due to fees or charges imposed by your bank or by other intermediary financial institutions. CareerDean assumes no responsibility for the aforementioned possibilities,and cannot cover or reimburse third party fees.

(j) If applicable, the participant must initiate a refund within 6 months after the program start date selected by the participant. After this date, refunds are made solely at our discretion.

 

Website and Promotional Material

(a) The content and information displayed on our website and other promotional material is believed to be valid and correct, but we will not be held liable and do not take responsibility for any misinformation or ambiguities in the content. Prices are subject to change without notice and you will be liable for additional amounts owed due to price changes unless your deposit has already been submitted.

 

(b) We may take photos or video footage of you and we reserve the right to use it in our promotional material. In return, we do not make any payments to individuals in respect of such use. We may (but are not obliged to) reproduce the photographs (or part of them) in our promotional material including, without limitation, posters, advertisements, printed publications, on our website and social media website pages. Copyright in the photographs will belong to CareerDean. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you consent for your photographic data to be used for our promotional purposes.

The Format of the Program

We reserve the right to change our suppliers and the format of our program as and when necessary, however we will always conduct business ethically and aim to provide a similar program as possible at all times.

Liability for Losses and Program Changes

(a) CareerDean does not accept any responsibility or liability for loss of or damage to your passport or any other personal property at any part of the visa process, during transit, or during registration with the local authorities.

 

(b) CareerDean does not accept any responsibility or liability for program changes or program cancellations under any of the following circumstances; war or threat of war; terrorism or threat of terrorism; fire; sickness; acts of government or local authority; or, any other event or circumstance which amounts to a “force majeure” and in such cases no refund or compensation for any loss will be given to you unless otherwise decided at our sole discretion.

Your Responsibility

(a) National holidays or events may change the nature of your program and it is your responsibility to be aware of it. Most companies operate an 8 hour policy. However, some may have different requirements and CareerDean does not accept any responsibility if this shall occur.

 

(b) International flights are not included in the cost of any of our programs. Participants are solely responsible for arranging flights and insurance and to select providers based on their own decisions and experiences. We cannot be held responsible for any action, negligence or event relating to the purchase or operation of flight tickets or flights, or for any charges incurred due to delay or changes in flights.

 

Experiencing Problems

 

(a) Should you experience any problems while participating in our program, you must immediately inform CareerDean in writing (by email or post), with a clear explanation of the problem. In such an event, we will discuss the problem with you and will discuss ways in which the problem can be solved. We are not responsible for any conversations or anything that is said unless it is recorded in written form either by email or by letter.

 

(b) You must discuss any potential problems you are having with CareerDean first prior to discussing it with your host company.

 

Safety

(a) We, our affiliate agencies, suppliers and members of staff cannot be held responsible for any case of injury, accident, claim, theft, damage, sickness, cancellation or loss, in relation to our/their services.

(b) You take full responsibility for your own safety while you are abroad and neither we, nor the assigned host company, take responsibility nor can be held liable for any accident, sickness, loss, damage, expense or hazard encountered throughout the program.

(c) You take full responsibility and are held liable for any damages to the assigned host company during your placement. You are responsible to purchase personal liability insurance prior to the commencement date.

Complying with Rules, Local Laws and Acting Responsibly

(a) If you do not comply with the rules of the host company, the rules of our program, or the laws of the destination to which you go, then we may release you from the program. In these cases, no refund will be given and you will be required to leave the provided accommodation within Three days of being informed by us. This includes cases in which the host company asks you to leave your role due to underperformance or misconduct.

 

(b) You will take full responsibility for your conduct at all times during the program. You will not act irresponsibly nor will you break the law of the country to which you go. You will not put yourself or others in dangerous situations. If you do any of the above you will be responsible for the consequences.

 

(c) We reserve the right to expel, at our sole discretion, any participant from the program for reasons including but not limited to: breaking the law; bullying or harassment of other participants; anti-social or unreasonable behavior or unfit conduct towards other group members, our representatives, our suppliers’/affiliate agencies’ representatives or the assigned host company or excessive absence from work. Whether a participant has acted in any of the ways set out above will be determined by us in our sole discretion. In such instances, we retain the right to immediately remove the participant from his or her accommodation and cancel their participation in the program, with no refund issued.

 

Third Party Behavior or Actions

(a) We take no responsibility and are not liable for any third party behavior or actions including but not limited to that of the host host company and designated accommodation. We do not claim responsibility and are not liable for any accidents that may take place at any third party locations including, but not limited to the premises of the host host company and the designated accommodation.

(b) You must be respectable to the designated accommodation. CareerDean reserves the right to make charges for any missing or damaged items or for any additional cleaning or repair charges to accommodation that may be incurred during the program. You agree to pay these charges in full to us within 14 days of finishing the program.

 

Guests Prohibited

Guests can only stay in homestay accommodation by consent from homeowner. Without consent, you may be required to leave the provided accommodation within 72 hours of being informed by us.

Non-Disclosure Agreements

If a host company demands a Non-Disclosure Agreement to be signed before starting the position, you must sign it and abide by the document. Even if host company does not require a Non-Disclosure Agreement to be signed, you must still agree to respect and keep confidential the intellectual property of the assigned host company

 

Workload

 

The workload provided is under full discretion of the host company and we are not responsible if the workload is too challenging or lack of. If these issues are present, you should communicate it with a CareerDean representative and we will try to resolve it accordingly.

Notifications You Must Make

(a) You must inform CareerDean if you have an infectious disease, mental illness, or a criminal record, as any of these may complicate your visa application or immigration status in your destination country.

 

(b) You must inform CareerDean of any travel abroad or any other unavailability of passport for visa processing during the 4 weeks prior to the commencement date. CareerDean does not hold responsibility or not liable for additional costs for express processing, postage, submission in person by our staff, or delay or cancellation of program due to failure to inform us of such details.

 

(c) You must inform CareerDean of any medical conditions (physical or psychological) or religious restrictions which may influence the participant’s ability to complete the Program (work in their internship or attend any events or activities), prior to paying a deposit.

 

(d) When the participant discusses the medical conditions and religious restrictions with CareerDean’s staff, then it CareerDean’s responsibility to inform the participant whether they can continue with the program prior to commencement. if CareerDean cannot place participant in program, then a full refund of the deposit will be given.

(e) No refund will be given if your placement is terminated prior to the program end date by the assigned host company for any reasons related to your medical conditions or religious restrictions. In such cases, we are under no obligation to provide another placement and you will be required to leave the provided accommodation within three days of being informed by us.

 

Maximum Liability

CareerDean’s maximum liability is limited to the program fee

Refer-a-friend Program

(a) If you refer a friend to CareerDean’s program, you will receive a $200 USD discount from your program fee.

 

(b) If you refer a friend after completing your program, we will give you a rebate of $200 USD via bank transfer.

 

(c) The discount or rebate is not eligible for friends that are signing up to our TEFL program. If the TEFL program is necessary for their ability to teach abroad, then they must work with CareerDean to be placed in a Teach Abroad program after receiving their TEFL Certification. In this case, the $200 USD discount or rebate will be granted.

 

(d) There is no limit on the number of friends you can refer to our programs.

 

(e) The discount applies only to your total program fee. The discount does not reduce the amount required for the initial deposit or of any required minimum payments.

 

(f) Your friend must provide your name and email address information that we have in your file to ensure the discount is feasible. Your friend must mention your name and email address through the initial admissions process. If your friend mentions that you referred them after being placed in the program, then discount or rebate will not be granted.

 

(g) The discount or rebate will be granted only when your friends placement has been confirmed and after they make a payment of at least 50% of the program fee.
